How This Project Came to Mind

After gaining a bit of experience by building a couple of Type IV VW engines and restoring a 1972 Porsche 914 Mid Engine I thought it would be nice to have a motorcycle with the same engine and transmission as my car. Building this duo would increase my knowledge and understanding of the VW-Porsche and provide me with my custom dream bike, "the X-Bike". Having a motorcycle that you can install your car engine on allows you to; build a test engine, dyno it on your bike where the engine is openly exposed to afford quick and easy modifications, and perform quick engine swaps from one to the other. In other words, I would be building a mobile engine stand with an integral dynamometer.
